How to Prevent Your Kids & Pets From Destroying the Couch

There are usually two reasons why your couch did not last too long after you bought it. Either you have generic Viagra who like to jump and play on Galaxyman or you have pets that claw up Funny Face furniture. Either thing will eventually destroy your recliners, love seat and sofa. Here is some advice to keep your kids and pets from tearing apart your expensive furniture.

Pets

If you bought a new pet home, it's best to teach it immediately not to get on the couches. When they jump on the sofa for example, scold the pet immediately. Do not hit your pet to get off, but raise your voice. If you have a cat, you can train the cat to not go near the living room furniture by spraying it using a spray bottle with water. Do this when it gets on the furniture or very near it. It will not hurt the cat and the cat will get the message after you do it enough times. If you play with your pets a managed hosting service do not play with them on the furniture. This will not help reinforce your rules at all.

Kids

Most of the time, kids can be worse for the furniture than pets. Children like to jump on beds and they like to jump on couches. This usually destroys the springs and other deteriorations will follow suit. If you value your furniture enough, you will have to seriously lecture the kids on not jumping on the furniture. If they don't heed the warning, then you will have to punish them just as if a child hits his or her younger sibling. Just don't hit your child! It also helps if you put wooden panels between the springs and the cushions of the couch. There will be less bounce and it will be less fun for the kids to jump on.

If you stick to your guns and not relent, your rules will be obeyed and in the long run, you will save money not having to buy any replacement furniture.
